In her time Elena was an extremely popular victor, as nature would have it; she was a star of the Hunger Games' first big love story. Raised in District 10 watching the split between the largely rich Caucasian 'Settler' and the poorer class 'Anasazi' Hispanics, Elena gradually fell in love with Settler boy Danny Hooley. Their love story was the source of her arena [a mixture of a ruined city, forest and shipyard] strength; she used this motive to defeat the boys from Districts 1 and 12. Although Elena and Danny married their story turned tragic since both children died in the Games and Danny later commited suicide; as of the 3rd Quarter Quell Elena is still alive age 59.
