Story Plot
Following the critical & commercial success of 'The Elephant Man', David Lynch passes up the opportunity to direct the final installment of a little known sci-fi adventure trilogy called Star Wars (citing blatant disinterest in the material) and deems Frank Herbert's Dune unfilmable. The positive reception of Thomas Harris's new novel prompts Lynch to direct his next movie based on it.
