Story Plot

London, 1582 The year is 1582 and England is at the peak of the Renaissance period. Beneath the age of exploration and scientific innovations, however, lies a sea of intrigue, plotting, seduction, espionage, and murder. Members of the Royal Court find themselves facing the cresting waves of political feuds and struggles that have been amassing over the years. The current monarch, King Frederick Wyndham, has begun to retreat from court life entirely, leaving his nobles and countrymen questioning - what precisely has become of their monarch who once ruled in splendor and might? Even as rumors pullulate throughout the kingdom, forces unseen work to squash speculation and retain a visage of placid glory. Within the Court the current arbiter of power suddenly appears in the shape of the Queen, who has somehow managed to insinuate herself into this role from behind closed doors. Thus far not openly defied or challenged, she believes England has improved under her guiding hand. Yet, there are those working from the shadows, preparing to seize the throne and overthrow the Wyndham dynasty entirely... They say the eyes are the windows to one's soul, but what of those who do not have a soul to see? Darkness, intrigue, vying for power, and secret affairs - this is what you will find when stepping into the Castle of Thorns.
