Story Plot

In the mid-19th century and follows a teenage boy who joins a gang of scalp hunters in the American Southwest. The gang is led by a man known only as the Judge, who is described as a giant, and who is the evilest character in the book. The boy, who is never named, is the only character who is given a first-person narrative.
