Synopsis

The Great Lakes Avengers(also known as The Lightning Rods, The Great Lakes X-Men, The Great Lakes Champions, and The Great Lakes Initiative) are a superhero team formed by Mister Immortal out of the local YMCA as a sister team to the West Coast Avengers and (East Coast) Avengers.

Description of Maelstrom (Malcolm Stromberg):

the son of an exiled Inhuman geneticist called Phaeder and to a Deviant woman called Morga and raised in Deviant Lemuria. After his mother was put to death for having relationships with an outsider, his father Phaeder rescued him and brought him to his laboratory in the underwater ruins of the island of Attilan, where they plotted together against both species and discovered Maelstrom's ability to harness kinetic energy.
