Barry is a cold, bloodthirsty sociopath who enjoys seeing innocent people suffer and controls his emotions somewhat better than his sister, although he is still prone to rather violent outbursts of rage. He poses as a kind caretaker, promising to fix the house so Scott can have as much of a normal life as possible, but in reality, he is manipulating the place to prevent him from trying to escape. He feels he only has his sister, Betty. They have looked out for each other since they were children. They tortured and murdered their distant mother as soon as she fell ill with cancer.
