The formidable primary matriarch of the Savage family. Marian passes away at the beginning of the story, and it is her macabre and shocking funeral that incites the nightmarish tale to come. She is seen only in flashbacks and as a corpse. She was blonde-haired, and favored expensive tailored pantsuits. She is in her late 60’s-mid 70’s
