    Spoiler: Hartman is a synthetic human created by Skynet during it's attempts to create what would eventually become a the T-800. He was kept on as the "heart of skynet" an autonimous obedient janitor and repairman that could keep the supercomputer running when no other machines were available. But this synthetic human project was dubbed a failure by Skynet because the intended worker drones proved too "human" (empathetic that is)
