Alex is the main and playable character on Minecraft along with her masculine equivalent, Steve. According to the WIRED article released on April 28, 2015, there was the concern for the lack of representation in the diversity of Minecraft playbase, thus the character Alex will be a complementary addition to Minecraft as a randomly-assigned character, featuring "thinner arms, redder hair, and a ponytail", according to Mojang. Alex has been added in version 1.8 in September 2014. In the summer, Alex later released on both consoles, Xbox and Playstation, first and later in mobiles, Pocket Edition.[1][2] ↑
