Fan Casting Recurring Fanon Character in Sort by Tropes

A character created by a fan that becomes popular enough with the rest of the community to be used in other fan works. This may be an Original Character who really took off, or a character who emerged from general discussion within the fan community rather than any single fanwork. Some of these characters may receive the occasional Fandom Nod from the higher-ups, or even become actual characters in official works. In the latter case, that is "ASCENDED FANON," not this trope.
