Hailing from Rimbor, Jo Nah was once part of the Emerald Dragons gang. Fate changed his path when he was flying his space dragster, and was swallowed by an Energy-Beast, a type of "space whale". Saved by the Galactic Patrol, Jo discovered he had powers on par with a Kryptonian, but with penta-vision, allowing him to see through lead, as well as being only able to use one at a time. Eventually, he would join the Legion of Super-Heroes, calling himself Ultra Boy, and being one of the Legion's big guns along with Superman and Mon-El.
