Kilowog was a geneticist and one of the most brilliant of Bolovax Vik, one of the most crowded planets in the universe. When his space sector's previous Green Lantern died, Kilowog was chosen to join the Green Lantern Corps, a duty he performed with honor. Though he would lose his planet, including his wife and children, in the first Crisis, and die at Hal Jordan's hands when Parallax manipulated him, Kilowog would rise again, and continue his work in the Corps, both in the field, and as a long-running instructor to rookie Green Lanterns, a role he's taken a back step on for the time being.
