The daughter of Alexander Fairchild, Caitlin was left in the care of her aunt and uncle, raised by them along with her cousin Karen in Portland, Oregon. Growing up, Caitlin showed how brilliant she was, even if mousy, leading her to go to Princeton. Eventually, in her sophomore year, Caitlin was recruited into something called Project Genesis. What it turned out to be was a plot by Henry Bendix and his associate Ivana Baiul to try to find youth tied to experiments on metagenes, which triggered Caitlin's metagene, and how she would help the new Young Justice to stop their plans, and form the team Gen 13 with others.
