For Garfield Logan, he loved traveling with his parents in West Africa. But fate would led him to catch the rare but always fatal disease Sakutia. To save his life, his father Mark used an experimental process to revert Gar down the evolutionary chain to become the rare green monkey, which saved Gar and left him with green skin and the ability to transform into all animals. After his parents' deaths, Gar would become part of the Doom Patrol, before he would then join the Teen Titans and become a stalwart member of their ranks.
