Which movies deserves a remake? A remake is a film that is based upon and retells the story of an earlier production, a "new version of an existing film". A remake tells the same story as the original but uses a different cast, and may alter the theme or change the story's setting. A remake is concerned with updating a single film, not beginning a franchise.
