The original Mighty Morphin' Red Power Ranger and Damian's karate teacher. Even years after retiring from active duty as a Ranger, aside from the occasional team-up with his successors, Jason retained his passion for martial arts that he passed down to his pupils in Angel Grove. Out of all his students, however, he sees the most potential in Damian Jacobs because Jason saw much of his younger self before becoming a Ranger in Damian. As a former bully, Jason knew that Damian's anger issues came from a troubled home life and his lack of a proper father figure, causing Damian to see Jason as more of a father than his actual father ever was. Eventually, Jason would return to being a Power Ranger once more when the Sheriff nominated him as a backup ranger, noting that his experience would be most helpful to the High Noon Rangers. Jason is also given control of the Golden Grizzly Bear Westernzord and wields a bowie knife in combat. "Gold Ranger, tough as the bear!"
