Anne was 19 when she and her mother landed in Plymouth. She struggled with sin, particularly adultery and lust, and was warned by the council that if she continued, she and her mother would be banished. After developing feelings for and having an affair with a female Wampanoag tribe member, Chepi, their relationship was discovered, leading to their banishment. This event caused Anne to lose her faith in God. At 23, Anne cares for her dying mother outside Plymouth, blaming the colony for the hardships in her life. She is later targeted as a witch due to her past behavior.
