In this version of the film, young Ichiro Miki, a working-class, bullied boy who has witnessed many of Godzilla's battles throughout the years and quickly becomes a fan of the kaiju, becomes shipwrecked on Monster Island after a ship his class is traveling to the Philippines on is caught in a storm, and he falls off the edge. Soon, Ichiro befriends Minilla, and helps the kid face off against a bully kaiju by the name of Gabara, whilst Godzilla tries to find a way to get Ichiro home, and Ichiro's parents simultaneously try to look for him.

    Now, about the plot point of Ichiro's parents looking for him, they briefly take a fishing boat out to investigate the ship's course. But, when passing by Monster Island, they notice Ichiro there, sitting on Godzilla's shoulder. This then, leads to a big misunderstanding where they think Godzilla wants to eat Ichiro, and then pretty much the entire JSDF attacks Monster Island, only for the Kaiju to decimate them..
