The man responsible for the Xavier Institute for Gifted Youngsters, Charles was born into an aristocratic family, dedicating his life to helping other people who also discovered they had superhuman abilities derived from the X-Gene, known as Mutants. Using his former stepfather's mansion to live and form a school for mutants to develop their powers, he is an intelligent, compassionate and introspective man. His mutation gave him telepathic powers, being able to read minds and project his own thoughts into the minds of other people within a long range. When he was still young, his hair began to fall out as a side effect of his powers.
