Deming Chen is a supporting character introduced in the first cycle of the Blue Bloods series, first appearing in Masquerade and being a supporting character in Misguided Angel. A formidable Venator dispatched from the Chinese Conclave, she plays a pivotal role in the investigation of the Watcher murders and becomes a key ally to the series’ protagonists in their fight against the Silver Bloods. She and her twin Dehua Chen are rare starborn twins. Twins who do not bond. Deming Chen's beauty is characterized as calm and otherworldly, which she shares with her twin sister, Dehua Chen. Both sisters have toasted milk-colored complexion, silky-straight ebony-black hair, and sexily slanted almond-shaped eyes, which show their East Asian background. A splattering of freckles across their button noses stands out from their otherwise polished and enigmatic appearance, offering a hint of youthful charm. Deming Chen stands out for her keen intellect, composed attitude, and unshakable commitment to truth and justice. She was trained as a Venator from a young age and maintains high moral and professional standards, approaching each inquiry with methodical precision and emotional reserve. She is alert and insightful, able to discern small fluctuations in mood and energy—thanks in part to her unusual talent of angelic vision, which allows her to read a person's affectus, or emotional aura, without relying on the glom Deming's outward caution conceals her warmth and tenderness. Her internal monologue indicates a serene confidence in her own attractiveness and ability to negotiate social situations, as well as a profound reservoir of empathy associated with her angelic nature as Kuan Yin, the Angel of Mercy. She experiences strong emotions but frequently suppresses them in favor of duty.
