Lisimachus was a macedonian nobleman, companion and bodyguard of Alexander (somatophilakes). He was one of his best friend and a very brave soldier. After Alexander's death he was satrap of Thracia, and later king of that region. He also gained western Anatolia after the battle of Issus. He fought against Demetrius and Phyrrus for Macedon. He died in 281 in battle against Seleucus for the dominion of Asia Minor.
